Privacy policy

This policy describes how personal data is collected, used and protected on josephpire.dev. It complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, EU 2016/679) and the Belgian law of 30 July 2018.

Data controller

Data collected

1. Contact form (/contact) and project intake (/start)

When you submit either form, the following data is collected:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Message content (and, for /start, the answers to the scoping questions)

Legal basis: legitimate interest (responding to a business inquiry) and performance of pre-contractual measures at your request.

Processing: data is transmitted via Web3Forms (web3forms.com) acting as data processor, then stored in the controller’s mailbox.

Retention: 24 months from the last interaction. If the exchange leads to a contractual engagement, data is retained as required by Belgian accounting and tax obligations (7 years).

2. Browsing data

The site does not deploy any tracking cookies or third-party analytics. No cookies are set to monitor your behaviour.

The site may later integrate Plausible Analytics (self-hosted, cookieless, GDPR-compliant). If that happens, this section will be updated.

Search uses Pagefind, an engine that runs entirely in your browser. Search queries are never transmitted to a server.

4. Server logs

The hosting provider (see Legal notice) may retain technical logs (IP addresses, timestamps, HTTP requests) for security and abuse prevention purposes, for a maximum of 30 days.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights over your personal data:

  • Right of access — know what data is held about you.
  • Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — request deletion.
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured format.
  • Right to object to processing.
  • Right to restriction of processing.
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time.

Supervisory authority

If you believe your rights are not being respected, you may file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (DPA):

This policy may be updated. The date at the bottom indicates the latest revision. Substantial changes will be announced on the homepage.
